Pedestrian Struck By Scooter Dies At Scene Of Maryland Crash, Police Say

Police say that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a scooter driver overnight in Prince George's County.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday night, officers were called to the 7500 block of Greenbelt Road in Greenbelt, where there was a report of a person who had been struck by a rider, who also suffered injuries.

According to the initial investigation, the rider of a scooter was traveling east on Greenbelt Road when they lost control and struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment of what were described as undisclosed non-life-threatening injuries, investigators said.

The pedestrian's name will be released once his family is notified. No information about the scooter rider was released.

Following the crash, all eastbound traffic in the area of the crash on Greenbelt Road was redirected through the Greenway Shopping Center during the investigation.
